Give Thanks to the Lord!

I hope you each had a very Happy Thanksgiving! There are so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! This ministry is so thankful for each of you who support, pray and volunteer for Footprints! It is impossible to express in words the gratitude we have for each of you!

The Lord continues to bless us more and more everyday. We are so thankful to Him who has enable this ministry to reach people at one of their darkest moments. We are thankful to Him for opening doors at hospitals all over the state of Alabama. We are so thankful to Him who has continuously provided the funds to keep this ministry running during the worst economic times we've ever seen. We are thankful to Him for every doctor and nurse in the NICU. We are so thankful to Him for every precious angel in the NICU. We are so thankful to Him who works miracles in the lives of these tiny babies. We are so thankful to Him for creating the miracle of Life! Thank You Lord for all you've done! To God Be the Glory!

I want this to be a post that everyone participates in. If you have ever had a child in the NICU, please post a comment in our comments section. Please include the following "I am thankful to Him who blessed ____________(child's name) with a NICU journey" Please also include any other information you feel led to share, child's year of birth and if your family has been touched by the Footprints Ministry. I know some of you are probably looking at that statement thinking "How can we be thankful for being in the NICU" but as you reflect I'm sure you see the awesome things the Lord did through that incredibly difficult time. I know this post will be a great inspiration to our parents who are currently in the NICU this Thanksgiving! We are praying for each of you every day!

"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Romans 5:3-5

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful to Him who blessed Harper and Lily with a NICU journey. I would not have been able to tell this while we were in the midst, but, as most suffering goes, we are able to look back and see what God taught us and how he changed us through the experience. I will email you a forward that my cousin Lindsey sent me. It is a little poem, author unknown, describing why God sends preemie babies. It made me cry of course. I have said it before but I'll say it again, "I wouldn't want to do it again (NICU) but God made it a piece of cake." I have also said to many who have shared the experience "I don't believe that my wants and my prayers had anything to do with my precious babies living and growing so well. God has plans for Harper and He has plans for Lily. That's it. I am just the undeserving mother He chose to carry them and guide them through life." This was a special Thanksgiving day for me and Nick and our babies.

Insert: Ethan.
Well, let's see, has my family been touched by Footprints? I sure hope so! :)
I strongly believe, scratch that, I know that the Lord placed Ethan with Matt and I to bring us to Him. He has blessed me more than I deserve honestly. I am loving every moment of being able to be back in His presence. It's amazing.
What is also amazing is how He is working through us here in Birmingham!

I am thankful to Him who blessed Lainie with a NICU journey. Lainie was born in 2001, prior to the start of Footprints Ministry.
I can imagine how wonderful it would have been to receive a gift from this Ministry and know that even strangers were praying for our little girl. What an awesome Ministry! While Lainie was in the NICU, I learned to have faith in Him. Instead of questioning why, I prayed and felt an amazing sense of reassurance as she struggled
to live. I just recently heard about this Ministry and am looking forward to contributing my time and gifts.

I am thankful to Him who blessed Joseph with a NICU journey. I would not know where to begin to tell other families going through there own NICU journey if we had not gone through the same experience. I also would not be able to tell people how awesome God is and how he will be with you and comfort you every step of the way.

I am thankful to Him who blessed Olivia with a NICU journey. Olivia was born on May 29, 2006 and went from our arms to Jesus' arms on June 5, 2006. He changed our lives forever through our sweet angel. Thanks to her life I cherish every moment God has given me. I invite you to check out my blog and read the post titled Footprints & Prayer Request. It explains how FootPrints has been an answer to my prayers.

I'm so glad that I've found this ministry. Thank you for answering His call.

We are thankful to Him who blessed Andrew with a NICU journey. Andrew was born in September 2007 and was diagnosed with 'wet lung'. The eleven days in the NICU were unexpected, frightening, and long. However, the nurses in the NICU are truly angels on earth. They cared for him, loved him and allowed me to spend many hours with my sweet baby boy. At the time, it was difficult to understand and be thankful for our situation. However, it has given us a deeper understanding of God's love, as well as compassion and appreciation for all involved with the NICU.

I am thankful to Him who blessed Gavin with a NICU journey. Gavin was born at 30w2d and weighted 2lbs 7ozs. He will be 2 yrs old tomorrow December 5th. The day he was born was the scarest and the happiest day of my life. He was so tiny and so precious. God was there in every way with us though our long 53 days. When you see a baby this small you know that he is there and looking over them. When we where in the hospital I would have loved to have had this great group there for me. I can not wait to be a part of this and to try to bring comfort to someone going through these hard times. All I want to say is God has a plan and if you can make it through the hard times the rewards are so worth it!!

I am thankful to Him who blessed Olivia Rose with a NICU journey. This journey began Feb. 19, 2005, when, at 37.5 weeks, I suffered a fetal/maternal bleed which resulted in an emergency c-section and a very sick baby girl. To say we were shell-shocked from this experience, would be putting it mildly. However, we are forever indebted to the wonderful NICU doctors and nurses for saving our precious baby's life! This situation allowed us to see first hand that the Lord can do ALL things!
